JSTN Parsons - Missing You And I

Jstn Parsons Releases Missing You And I

Indie403¬†caught up with Jstn Parsons briefly this morning prior to the release of his first solo EP entitled, “Missing You And I”. Jstn has played in “Inner City Elegance“, “Jenny“, and “Grandola“, all bands which have proven themselves in the Calgary music scene, as well as throughout Canada. “I’ve always done the band thing, and it’s given me a ton of experience. I’ve learned alot and developed as an artist. I’m at the point now where I just want to have complete control over my music and the sounds I’m creating. I value others input, but I want the final decision of every note and melody to be my own. I’m open to bringing in musicians and producers as I need their skills and input. I have a pretty clear vision at this point in terms of the sound that I’m creating.”

Touring has always been a goal for Jstn with each and every music project he is a part of. “I actually relocated to Toronto for 2 years in order to try to kick-start my music career there. I worked for the Niagara Music Awards and I also got to help out with Indie Week.¬†Both were really exciting experiences, and they helped me realize that moving away from your hometown isn’t necessarily needed to make it in the music industry. I do think that focusing your music on just one city and playing that one city is silly. If you really want to have a go at it, you should play as many cities and towns as you can, as often as possible…and this includes the smaller towns and smaller venues.”

Jstn is now focusing primarily on touring his solo project across Canada and eventually internationally. “I’ve hosted parties for Gene Simmons, played on the Vans Warped Tour, and with my last band, we toured up to the Northwest Territories. It’s amazing how well we were received up there. We had a friend who lived up there and she wanted us to come up and do a show. There’s alot of issues with under age drug abuse and violence, so we went up there to do a good, fun, clean, show. Somewhere for the kids to come out and have a good time and to show them that they don’t need to get messed up to enjoy themselves. Touring is a big part of what I want to do and I’ve already experienced a small dose of it…it’s definitely contagious.”
